Peacock papercut finished at last.

Fine Feathers

After several months' work, I finally finished the handcut papercut of a white peacock.

This has been the most complicated papercutting that I have done so far, and I'm both relieved and pleased to finish it!

As I had planned, the watercolour background shows through the tracery of feathers, and represents the blues and green of the blue peacock's plumage.

Each layer of the tail was cut individually to give the impression of the structure of the real tail when folded behind the bird.

By raising some of the layers above the background, I have tried to introduce a three-dimensional aspect to the work.
