I was delighted that my Papercut "Murmur" won a Gold Medal for the Best
3D/Sculpture in Show at The Wildlife Art Society International's Annual
Exhibition in May this year.
The swoop of starlings comes out and then back into the picture, and there
are several layers created between the parts of the landscape.
I made the work in response to watching a murmuration of starlings at Otmoor
Nature Reserve, just before Christmas in 2019.
I have been making paper cuts for more than 20 years now, and my recent
work has been mainly in this medium, where I am trying to introduce plenty
of textures and layers, so the work is 3D within a few inches.
